The Aura Lodge is an authentic luxury retreat in Patagonia, where sustainable design, an intimate experience with nature, and a range of outdoor activities make every visitor feel part of the virgin forest from the very first moment.
The Aura Lodge has built and operates its own water, power, wastewater treatment, telephone and internet services.
Electricity and Heating: From mid-summer, and sometimes as early as the beginning of February, the streams have very little water, thirstily awaiting the first rains of April. As El Aura Lodge generates its own power using a mini hydroelectric plant (and a supplementary thermal generator), this water shortage necessitates power outages for a few hours in the afternoon and evening. In any case, the supply is guaranteed for 10 to 12 hours per day.
The cabins for 4 people have an emergency lighting system and another that guarantees the availability of hot water and heating even during those hours without power.
The two cabins for two people also have emergency lighting but lack the system that provides hot water and heating. Please note that in these two cabins, there will be no hot water or heating from midnight until 8 or 9 a.m. The cabins have been built with a high thermal capacity, so they will cool down slowly during the night but will heat up quickly within the first half hour after the power is restored in the morning. For those who enjoy a fire, these cabins have a wood-burning stove that replaces the gas heating. By leaving the thermostat on, the heating will automatically turn on in the morning, ensuring the cabin is warm and there is hot water for your morning bath.
